Terms, Warranty & Liability Information

General Disclaimer

By using the LO-KO Performance Coatings website and engaging our coating services, you agree to the terms outlined on this page. We've written this in plain English because we don't believe in hiding behind legal jargon. If something doesn't make sense to you, reach out and we'll clarify it — that's how we operate. These terms apply to all services we provide, including ceramic exhaust coatings, powder coating, and XR2 piston coatings, as well as any consultations, quotes, or communications related to our work.

The information provided on this website, including product descriptions, performance claims, and technical specifications, is intended for general informational purposes. While we make every effort to ensure accuracy, coating performance can vary based on application conditions, material composition, environmental factors, and usage patterns. We don't guarantee specific horsepower gains, temperature reductions, or longevity periods because those outcomes depend on variables outside our control once the parts leave our facility.

Service Performance Disclaimer

Our coating services are designed to improve thermal management, durability, and aesthetic quality of your components. However, we cannot guarantee that our coatings will prevent all forms of wear, damage, or performance loss under every possible condition. Ceramic coatings provide thermal barrier properties but are not fireproof. Powder coatings offer excellent surface protection but can be damaged by extreme impact or chemical exposure. XR2 coatings reduce heat transfer but do not eliminate the need for proper engine tuning and maintenance.

Performance improvements mentioned in our marketing materials or website content are based on typical results observed across our customer base. Individual results will vary depending on your specific engine configuration, operating environment, driving style, and maintenance practices. We strongly recommend consulting with a qualified engine builder or mechanic before making performance modifications based solely on coating application.

Warranty Terms & Limitations

LO-KO Performance Coatings provides limited warranties on our coating applications as follows: ceramic coatings are covered for 3 years against peeling, flaking, or adhesion failure under normal use conditions. Powder coatings carry a 2-year warranty against chipping, fading, or peeling when used as intended. XR2 piston coatings are warranted for 1 year against coating degradation or failure due to application defects.

These warranties cover defects in our application process only. They do not cover damage resulting from improper installation, physical impact, chemical exposure beyond normal operating conditions, racing or competitive use beyond specified limits, neglect, or modifications made to the coated part after it leaves our facility. The warranty is void if the customer attempts to remove, modify, or recoat the part themselves or through a third party without our authorization. Warranty claims must be submitted in writing with photographs and supporting documentation within 30 days of the defect being discovered.

Liability Limitations

LO-KO Performance Coatings shall not be held liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of our coating services. This includes but is not limited to engine damage, vehicle performance issues, race results, personal injury, property damage, or loss of use. Our total liability for any claim related to our services shall not exceed the total amount paid by the customer for the specific coating service in question.

Customers are responsible for ensuring their parts are suitable for the intended application and coating type. We provide recommendations based on our experience, but the final decision on coating selection and part usage rests with the customer. We encourage customers to research, ask questions, and seek professional advice when uncertain about any aspect of their project. By proceeding with a coating order, the customer acknowledges and accepts these limitations.

Customer Responsibilities

When you send parts to LO-KO for coating, you confirm that the parts are legally owned by you and do not contain hazardous materials that could pose a risk to our staff or facility. You are responsible for accurately describing your parts, their condition, and their intended use when requesting a quote. Misrepresentation of part condition, material type, or intended application may void our warranty and could result in additional charges for corrective work.

After receiving coated parts from us, it is your responsibility to properly install them according to manufacturer specifications and industry best practices. We are not responsible for installation errors, improper torque specifications, incorrect clearances, or any damage caused by improper handling during the installation process. If you're unsure about proper installation procedures, we strongly recommend having a qualified professional handle the installation.

Trusted by Builders & Racers

Don't just take our word for it. Here's what the community has to say about working with LO-KO.

★★★★★

I brought my LS swap headers to LO-KO after getting burned by another shop. The ceramic coating they applied has held up through two full track seasons — no peeling, no discoloration, nothing. My under-hood temps dropped by about 40 degrees. That's a real-world difference you can measure.

We run a small racing team and switch powder coating suppliers every season looking for better quality. We found LO-KO three years ago and haven't looked back. Their powder coatings survive road debris, curbing impacts, and constant track abuse. The finish quality is consistently flawless.

The XR2 piston coating was a game-changer for my turbo build. I was running into detonation issues at higher boost levels, and after applying XR2 to my pistons, I was able to safely add another 3 PSI. The coating is incredibly thin — you barely see it — but the thermal management improvement is real. Highly recommended.

What I appreciate most about LO-KO is their honesty. When I asked about coating my daily driver's exhaust, they actually told me I didn't need the full ceramic treatment — a simpler option would work fine. That kind of integrity is rare. They've earned a customer for life.

LO-KO handled the coating package for our entire show car — ceramic headers, powder-coated suspension components, and XR2 on the pistons. The level of detail and communication throughout the process was outstanding. When we pulled it out of the trailer at the show, people were asking who did the coatings. That says everything.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we get asked most about our terms and warranty policies.

What does the LO-KO coating warranty actually cover?

+
Our warranty covers defects in our application process only. For ceramic coatings, this means peeling, flaking, or adhesion failure within 3 years of application. Powder coatings are covered for 2 years against chipping, fading, or peeling under normal use. XR2 coatings carry a 1-year warranty. The warranty does not cover damage from improper installation, physical impact, racing beyond specified limits, or chemical exposure outside normal operating conditions.

How do I file a warranty claim?

+
To file a warranty claim, contact us through our email or phone with your original order information, clear photographs of the defect, and a description of the issue and how it occurred. Claims must be submitted within 30 days of discovering the defect. We'll review your claim, inspect the part if necessary, and respond with our assessment and resolution within 10 business days.

Is LO-KO liable for engine damage after coating?

+
No. LO-KO Performance Coatings is not liable for engine damage, performance issues, or any other consequential damages that may occur after our coatings are applied. Our coatings are applied to customer-supplied parts, and we have no control over how those parts are installed, tuned, or used after they leave our facility. We strongly recommend professional installation and proper engine tuning when using coated performance components.

What voids the warranty on a LO-KO coating?

+
The warranty is void if the coated part is modified, recoated, or repaired by anyone other than LO-KO without our authorization. Physical damage from impacts, accidents, or improper installation also voids the warranty. Using the coated part in conditions beyond our specified limits (such as extreme chemical exposure or racing beyond our stated parameters) will void coverage. We'll always be upfront about what will and won't void your warranty before you commit to the service.

Can I use LO-KO content or images for my own website?

+
All content on lo-ko.com, including text, images, videos, and technical data, is the property of LO-KO Performance Coatings unless otherwise noted. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use our content for commercial purposes without explicit written permission. If you're interested in using our content or partnering with us for promotional purposes, please contact us to discuss the terms.

Do you guarantee specific performance gains from your coatings?

+
We do not guarantee specific horsepower gains, temperature reductions, or other performance metrics. While our coatings are designed to improve thermal management and durability, actual results depend on many factors including your engine configuration, operating environment, tuning, and driving habits. We share typical results based on our experience, but individual outcomes will vary. We encourage customers to research and consult with qualified professionals before making performance decisions.

Can your terms and disclaimer change without notice?

+
We reserve the right to update our terms, disclaimer, and warranty policies at any time to reflect changes in our business practices, legal requirements, or service offerings. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Your continued use of our services after updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
